BYU Pres. Samuelson and Coach Mendenhall Shun Max Hall!

November 29, 2009

You guys know this is what’s going to happen next time President Samuelson and Coach Mendenhall see each other. After reviewing the game film and seeing Max Hall cuss twice (the d-word and the f-word), and watching the post-game interview, President Samuelson and Coach Mendenhall decide Hall has shamed the university.  They decide to shun Max Hall by forever forgetting his name. President  Samuelson puts Bronco to the test the next day:

Pres. Samuelson: “Hey Bronco, who was our quarterback the past 3 years?”

Bronco: “I can’t remember.”

Pres. Samuelson: “Hmmm… Wasn’t it like Max Hail, Matt Hall, or something like that?”

Bronco: (shaking head) “Hmm no! I just can’t put my finger on it.”

Pres. Samuelson: (shrugging) “Oh well, no big deal. Wanna go to lunch.”

Bronco: “Ya, sure…”

Pres. Samuelson: “Hahaha!”

Bronco: “Hahaha!”

I really cannot believe you are criticizing a football player for using the d and or f word? Hahah. Really? Get a life.

Actually, if you read carefully, you’ll see that I am not criticizing Max Hall for swearing. I could care less, nobody is perfect. But if you know BYU, you know they probably wouldn’t be happy. Thanks for the comment.

FYI everyone: This was a total joke. I love BYU and respect Max Hall regardless of how out of line his comments were. I think his apology was sincere and that his animosity was directed at a few Utah fans. But, I strongly disagree with the notion that because of those few fans, the Utes, “…deserved to lose.”

That comment from Hall made him sound self-righteous. And, you just don’t say that about your opponent. Especially when you (Max Hall) almost gave the game away in the second half, and barely squeeked it out in overtime. The best I’ve heard it said was, “BYU won inspite of Max Hall’s performance, not because of it.”

That game was anyone’s game. Max was ok when he said he and his teammates deserved to win, but why would you say that Utah “…deserved to lose.”? Not only did he say the Utes didn’t deserve to win, but he finished it off with the classy, “I don’t respect them, they deserved to lose.” Basically what Hall was saying was that he and his teammates are better people than the Utes and their fans. Utah and they’re fans are bad people so they deserved to lose.

Unlike Hall, Coach Mendenhall took the high road commending the Utes on their defense after the game saying it was the one of the best defensive efforts he has seen. In the end, it was just one game. You gotta give it to BYU for their defense in OT not allowing the Utes to score and then also for being able to get that last TD to put the final nail in the coffin. But the self-righteousness of some of the BYU players continues to show up in their tasteless post-game comments.

Can you imagine the intensity and excitement for next years DUEL/HolyWar?
